Malachite is not often seen in fine quality crystals, but this piece is a great exception. The individual crystals on this specimen are not slender or acicular, but rather blocky and noteworthy for their sharp lustrous faces. They have formed in/with reddish-brown massive Cuprite and white Calcite matrix. Malachite is a very common mineral around the world, but how often does one encounter crystallization and general aesthetics like this? A very attractive and worthwhile specimen from this famous copper-producing region in the Congo.
