Item Description

Dramatically sculptural, large solid mounded crust of densely intergrown, variably-sized malachite botryoids from this famous Katanga Copper Crescent mine. The rich green smooth botryoids have a very nice chatoyant shimmer under bright light and the primary, dominating central knob, 4.5 cm across, is noteworthy. The frontal display view is exceptional and the periphery wear on the back side is out-of-sight. This well-known copper-cobalt deposit is extinct commercially, but artisanal mining by locals has recovered more fine specimens. A fascinating, artistic and excellent botryoidal malachite from the noted Star of Congo Mine.
