Highly artistic Malachite small cabinet specimen with raised mammillary surfaces of fibrous dark forest green velvety botryoids up to 1 cm. These are separated and surrounded by thin lined networks of two-toned green malachite ribbons. Simply captivating texture! The underneath highlights the fibrous nature of the malachite, as well as the side view cross section shows the radial acicular growth of the Malachite botryoids. The piece has some crystalline tan to cream colored mineral coating on one side that may contain some possible Cerussite (?) which is a known association from Rum Jungle. The piece is in excellent condition with only a few scuffs to the chatoyant Malachite. Extremely cool textural piece from the 1970s excavations at this famous small copper-lead-zinc prospect- Brown’s Prospect at Rum Jungle. Formerly in the Marlys Robertson Collection and then in the De Natura (Les Presmyk) dealer stock. Specimens like this are usually valued, if you find one at all at a show, in the $1000-plus range.
