Item Description
A knobby Malachite stalactite from the Shilu Mine, source of many outstanding Malachite specimens from China. The forest-green, almost-velvety, mammillary aggregates vary in size and form as you go from one side to the other. This asymmetry on the stalactite is likely due to directional fluid flow during formation, and its unusual nature adds a great deal of character to this cabinet-sized piece. These are not often seen on the market anymore since the original shafts at the locality are now flooded and inaccessible. A new zone is producing, but a different style. Kurt bought his Chinese pieces directly from Chinese dealers, generally as they set up at the Munich show over the years starting in the 1990s when they began to attend.
