Makatite with Tuperssuatsiaite (rare)

Item Description

A rare association specimen from the famous Aris Quarries in Namibia featuring beautiful, white acicular "sprays" of the rare hydrated sodium silicate Makatite associated with golden-brown colored radial "sprays" of Tuperssuatsiaite nestled into a vug of the phonolite host rock matrix. A small amount of light pink Villiaumite can be seen as well. Please note, the label accompanying the piece states that the white mineral is Makatite, no analysis has been done on our end. With that said, it's quite difficult to get your hands on specimens of this material, as the Railway Quarry has been closed for many years (the Ariskop Quarry is still active to the best of my knowledge).
