Item Description

Magnetoplumbite is a rare lead manganese iron oxide that is only found in Sweden and Macedonia. It gets its name from the fact that it's magnetic and contains lead (plumbum in Latin). This piece is from the type locality, the famous manganese-iron deposit at Langban. This is the ONLY piece of this material that we've had to offer and features tiny grey / black crystals with calcite and manganoan-phlogopite. If you're a species collector, be sure to get this one! This piece comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371
