Item Description

This is a notably hard to find specimen of Magnetite from the lesser known Comstock Orebody on Iron Mountain in Utah. It's honestly the first piece of Magnetite that we've had to offer from the locality. It's a notably aesthetic and fine quality piece as the Magnetite crystals are superb, very sharp, lustrous, textbook octahedra measuring up to 9 mm associated with compressed white trigonal crystals of Calcite and dark green Actinolite on host rock matrix. The main group of Magnetite crystals is beautifully intergrown and sits so dramatically atop the specimen. If you collect minerals of Utah, this is a must-have specimen to add to your collection, as the quality and the rare locality make it very desirable. Magnetite is a fairly common species, but it's hard to find such excellent crystals like this on matrix from most world localities.
