Mineral specimens from this very obscure Chile placer gold deposit, discovered in 1556! and worked several time over the centuries, are RARE. This impressive large specimen of SOLID magnetite is from the metamorphic and crystalline bedrock. Sharp, lustrous, dark metallic-gray octahedrons, to 1.4 cm, totally cover the rounded face above the banded and laminated magnetite core. RARE and outstanding material from this locale from the Art Soregaroli Collection. Magnetic, as you would expect. Hefty ore at 1040 grams, over a kilo or 2.3 pound mass. Value of such a rarity?
