Item Description

VERY rare, sharp magnetite octahedrons are aesthetically clustered on the curved quartz crust on this exceptional specimen from a most obscure New Mexico locality. The lustrous, metallic octos reach 1.4 cm on the diagonal. MINDAT lists 8 Hidalgo County magnetite localities (not the Gecko Prospect), with only one minutely crystallized example in the Gallery. Magnetic, as you would expect. Rare, rich and showy, perhaps unique Hidalgo County magnetite combination material from the Ted Bartels Collection.
