Item Description
Simply put, some of the most classic Magnetites from North America are those from Balmat, New York. These are some of the most distinctive and eye-catching Magnetite specimens in the world due to their cubic habit. This piece is filled with rarely seen cubic crystals (with very slight tetrahexahedral modifications) on a massive Quartz matrix. I'm told that these specimens were mined in the early 1990s, and are not common on the market today, especially in CABINET-sized specimens such as this one! Most of the pieces I have seen from Balmat are either thumbnails or miniatures. The crystals on this specimen, despite having some contacts, are incredibly sharp for the species, with great luster. A great larger-sized display specimen of this well-known material from New York.
