Item Description
Three, intergrown, splendent, battleship-gray, magnetite cubes are aesthetically set on massive magnetite matrix on this showy specimen from a historic New York locale. The striking cubes have very interesting modifications and unusual etching. The two major crystals at the top of the piece are complete all-around and have only very trivial edgewear. They do have some contact faces, though, where attachment points show asymmetrically. Nevertheless this is a good representative piece with nice crystals. Large for the locale, the cubes are up to 1.5 cm on edge and are considered some of the finest magnetites in the U.S. Classic material from this noted locale, from the Clyde Hardin Collection.
