Magnetite (classic fine quality crystals)

When it comes to crystals of Magnetite, it's incredibly hard to find better crystals than those from Balmat, New York. The unique shape and larger than average size makes them some of the most desirable examples of the species ever found. What really sets them apart is the fact that they are predominantly cubic in habit, which is certainly uncommon for the species, but they also show attractive tetrahexahedral modifications. This thumbnail is a great example of said material with sharp, metallic, jet black faces, and it's not just a single crystal, but actually a few intergrown crystals which create a wonderful full-sized thumbnail. These specimens were collected in the early 1990s, and are not common on the market today. Good condition, with only a few tiny nicks.
