Item Description
Magnetite is not a rare species, but it's incredibly hard to find better crystals than those from Balmat, New York. These famous specimens are some of the largest, sharpest and most well-formed Magnetites in the world. What really sets them apart is the fact that they are predominantly cubic in habit, which is certainly uncommon for the species, but they also show attractive tetrahexahedral modifications. This thumbnail is a great example of said material with sharp, metallic, jet black faces, and it's not just a single crystal, but actually a few intergrown crystals which create a wonderful full-sized thumbnail. These specimens were collected in the early 1990s, and are not common on the market today. Good condition, with only a few tiny nicks. If you've ever wanted a wonderful example of these classic Magnetites, be sure to pick this one up for a great price. We had this specimen priced in the inventory at $800.
