Item Description
A very good combination piece of Magnetite with Chalcopyrite and Galena, all with superb metallic luster from this little known locality. While the Chalcopyrite is crudely crystallized and the sharp cubic Galena was probably cleaved during mining, the Magnetite crystals on top are excellent. There are at least a half-dozen Magnetite octahedra on the specimen. The largest, a 1 cm Magnetite, is a classic octahedron with the edges and corners only slightly modified by the dodecahedron, creating delicately beveled edges and tips. The others have slightly varying degrees of modification. A desirable, highly representative specimen from this mine. Good aesthetics.
