Item Description
We've never had a piece of this material to offer before this specimen. These old classic Magnetites from the Kiirunavaara Mine in far northern Sweden are known among Swedish collectors, but a lot of people outside of Sweden have never seen one in person. This attractive small cabinet display piece features fine quality, very sharp, sparkling, lustrous, well-formed, unusually dodecahedral crystals of Magnetite measuring up to about 1-2 cmm associated with sharp, striated crystals of Pyrite showing cubic habits with modified corners showing both octahedral and tiny pyritohedral faces. Good condition overall, and if you collect Magnetites or Swedish minerals, you can't afford to miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12098). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
