Item Description
Simply put, some of the most classic magnetites from North America are those from Balmat, New York. These are some of the most distinctive and eye-catching magnetite specimens in the world due to their cubic habit. A very impressive, 1.5 x 1.4 cm cube with metallic-gray luster is jauntily angled on the magnetite martrix. I"m told that these specimens were mined in the early 1990s, and are not common on the market today. Contacting on two sides of the cube are out of sight on the display views. An exceptional miniature display specimen of this well-known material from New York. The piece comes from the collection of noted Colorado geologist Allen Heyl (for whom the species Aheylite was named).
