Item Description

A classic specimen of the now famous Magnetites from Cerro Huanaquino. This locality is now complete finished, so we will not see anymore of these attractive crystals on the market. The octahedral habit combined with good sized crystals reminds one of the famous specimens from the Binntal in Switzerland. This miniature specimen features sharp, well-formed, semi-metallic octahedra measuring up to 1.3 cm on edge sitting on matrix. A little bit of trivial damage, but a good representation of a species that most people are very familiar with, yet few have representation in their collections. It should be noted that this piece came to us with two different dealer labels stating that the locality is San Ramon in the Santa Cruz Department of Bolivia. This is complete inaccurate, as Magnetite has never been reported from that locality, and this piece is clearly a Huanaquino Magnetite.
