Item Description

Simply put, some of the most classic Magnetites from North America are those from Balmat, New York. These are some of the most distinctive and eye-catching Magnetite specimens in the world due to their rarely seen cubic habit. This piece feature a large cubic crystal with very slight octahedral modifications on the corners, and tetrahexahedral modifications on the cube faces. I'm told that these specimens were mined in the early 1990s, and are not common on the market today. This specimen, despite having some minor contacts, is sharp for the species with good luster. A great thumbnail display specimen of this well-known material from New York.
