Item Description

Simply put, some of the most classic Magnetites from North America are those from Balmat, New York. These are some of the most distinctive and eye-catching Magnetite specimens in the world due to their cubic habit. This piece features rarely a seen cubic crystal (with very slight tetrahexahedral modifications). It's a very good sized single crystal for the species and the locality. I'm told that these specimens were mined in the early 1990s, and are not common on the market today. Only minor edge wear, great shape all around. A nice thumbnail specimen of this well-known material from New York.
