Item Description

Simply put, some of the most classic Magnetites from North America are those from Balmat, New York. These are some of the most distinctive and eye-catching Magnetite specimens in the world due to their cubic habit. This piece features rarely seen cubic crystals (with very slight tetrahexahedral modifications) on matrix. The largest crystal measures 1.0 cm on edge. I'm told that these specimens were mined in the early 1990s, and are not common on the market today. The crystals on this specimen, despite having some minor contacts, are sharp for the species, with decent luster. A nice small cabinet display specimen of this well-known material from New York. The piece comes with a label from Rocko Minerals.
