Magnetite

Item Description

Fine, single octahedron of lustrous, metallic Magnetite from the Ilogo region of the Central African Republic. The octahedron is well formed, with just two of the tips having been contacted. The rest are sharp, and the faces have a very fine texture to them, as well as a good luster. It is good size - 2.7 cm on edge. To my eye, I like the fact that the original surface had been preserved so well, rather than having been oxidized like so many specimens that you see. A good, aesthetic, representative specimen from Ilogo.
