Item Description

The majority of the Magnetites from this locality will feature crystals tightly intergrown, but this one has excellent isolation, which is rare for the locality. This large miniature / small cabinet specimen hosts sharp, good sized, metallic, lustrous, black, "Alpine-type" octahedra which are associated with cream colored Feldspar on matrix. The largest Magnetite crystal measures 1.6 cm across. There is a little bit of roughness here and there, but overall it's an eye-catching specimen with pretty good quality crystals and a pleasing balance and arrangement. This locality is finished, nothing has been found in several years, so if you missed out on these beautiful Magnetites when they were first found, this is a great chance to pick up a nice specimen of a species that is rarely found in such attractive crystals from any locality these days. Magnetite isn't considered a rare species, but you'd be hard pressed to find pieces with good sharp octahedra like this from almost anywhere outside of the European Alps.
