An attractive set of Magnesite from Brumado. This locality is a giant mountain that is filled with superb quality specimens Magnesite (used in EAF steelmaking, as the slag is designed to remove sulfur and phosphorus). This mine has produced some of the finest Magnesite specimens in the world, and does not get the credit it deserves. The specimen in this set sharp, gemmy colorless rhombs of Magnesite with modifying faces on the corners. Overall in good shape, with only a slight amount of edge wear. A good specimen of this well known and underappreciated material from Brazil. The accompanying gem is a rather large "Deep Modified Brilliant Cushion" cut gem with only minimal inclusions and beautiful ice like colorless transparency. Think of how large the crystal that yielded this gem must have been. This set is priced at $900, which is very reasonable for the size of the stone!
