Item Description

Magnesiochromite is the uncommon Cr-rich member of the Spinel Group and is VERY RARE from this obscure former chromite mine. Black grains are richly dispersed on all sides of the in the hefty dunite matrix. Very waxy layers of greenish-white chlorite group minerals cover two faces of the piece. Specimens of ANY species are RARE from here. Not pretty to look at, but this is an important and rare specimen from this locale. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and from the Vernon and Zona Braun Collection of Sacramento, according to his label. A MUST for the California or species collector.
