Item Description

These magnesium-bearing amphibole group species are from a new find from Washington in the summer of 2020! They were collected by Thea Stender in June 2020. This new find is arguably the finest source of magnesio-hastingsite in the USA for its sharp form, doubly-terminated crystals, luster, and size. Compared to what is pictured on mindat, these are multiple times better than any other USA locality with magnesio-hastingsite! These are found in an intrusive andesite right near a contact zone with sandstone. A large majority are single crystals that have popped off of the matrix, such as this one.
