Macfallite (very rare) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A rarely seen example of the elusive calcium manganese silicate, Macfallite from the Type Locality in Michigan. There are only five localities listed for this species on mindat.org, and I've only seen a few of them in my life. This piece features some reddish-brown groups of Macfallite associated with brownish-black Braunite and white Calcite. Very hard to find on the market, and certainly worth picking up for any species collector. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
