Item Description

Luzonite is a fairly rare copper arsenic sulfosalt, that has only been reported from a few localities in Mexico. This particular piece comes with a label from Peter Megaw, an experienced Mexican mineral collector with a lot of knowledge of the localities and their minerals. The piece does not have a label from Miguel Rmero's collection, but his collection number (#2203) is painted in the bottom. The label from Megaw corroborates this number. I have never seen another specimen of Luzonite from the San Martin Mine, so this is a great opportunity for a sulfide/sulfosalt collector, a rare species collector, or for anybody who collects Mexican minerals to pick up this incredibly hard to find specimen. Sharp, lustrous, semi-brass colored, modified tetragonal clusters of metallic Luzonite play host to a few white bladed Barite crystals. The underlying matrix seems to be mostly massive Luzonite with bands and spots of Pyrite here and there. Very rare on the market, and certainly worthwhile for the species.
