Item Description
Ludlockite, a RARE Pb-Fe-As-oxide, is VERY RARE from the famous Ojuela Mine. Bright orange to yellow hair-like crystal clusters are prominently set on gypsum on both sides of the sculptural miniature matrix. Originally identified as Karibibite, analyses later proved them to be actually Ludlockite. Karibibite is a RARE Fe-arsenate, that is visually similar to Ludlockite. These were actually found in the 1960s, and languished in a garage in Arizona labelled (wrongly) as karabibite for decades until recently surfacing and being tested properly at the University of Arizona. What a surprise! Ojuela now joins the ranks of ludlockite localities with fine crystals, of which few exist - and, we have a beautiful association! An outstanding and RARE combination from the noted locale.
