Item Description
Ludlamite is only found from about five localities in the world in fine quality crystallized specimens, and only a handful of places in good gem material. This is a three piece set of Ludlamite featuring a beautiful crystallized specimen consisting of bladed, sharp, lustrous, fine green color monoclinic crystals from the famous discovery at Santa Eulalia, Mexico. The faceted gem is from the famous Blackbird Mine in Idaho (the label mistakenly says it's from Utah), and despite the smaller size, the quality is excellent. It's a brilliant green color with a "Modified Octagon Step" cut and great clarity. The final part of the trio is also from the Blackbird Mine and is a wonderful "Oval Cabochon" cut gem with a slight "cat's eye" effect when it's rotated in the light. You don't see many faceted stones of Ludlamite from any locality, and this set is a very worthwhile pickup for any rare gem collector.
