Item Description
This is a very interesting specimen of this remarkably rare iron phosphate consisting of a sharp, lustrous, translucent, light green, crystal group of Ludlamite sitting on a unique and RARELY SEEN cast (perimorph) of golden brown Siderite replacing cubic Pyrite. The Ludlamite crystal measures 9 mm across. This cast is very reminiscent of material I have seen from Cornwall, England, and it is the ONLY piece that I've seen like it from Huanuni. If you collect Bolivian oddities, don't miss out on this one. This piece was brought into the country personally by Brian Kosnar in 1999 on his very first visit to Bolivia. There are truly about 5 localities in the world the produce fine crystallized Ludlamite specimens (i.e., Cornwall, Santa Eulalia, Trepca, Blackbird Mine in Idaho), and ALL of them, except for Huanuni and now defunct. PLEASE NOTE: There have been no more of these specimens found in virtually 10 years from this locality, and it is a possibility there will never be any more, so don't miss out on a very good quality piece from a classic Bolivian locality.
