Item Description
Commonly found in a 'sheet' habit, Luanheite is a rare amalagam of Silver and Mercury, with exceptional academic interest as well as being quite collectible. This is one of a very few in a small lot I have seen from the Kola Peninsula back in the mid 1990s (the largest went into the Ed David collection and I believe this find was therefore published and written about in the Conno Choice column of Rocks & MInerals magazine at the time).. While not a glamorous mineral, to be sure, the two attached sheets do have a nice, sculptural aesthetic. And the rarity adds a certain allure to the piece, to be sure. This is a robust, displayable specimen, which should be valued around $1200-1500.
