Item Description

This is wonderful old-time classic specimen of Lorenzenite from the well-known Selsurt Mountain locality in Russia. You'll often see these specimens labeled as coming from the Khibiny Massif or Lovozero Massif, but Selsurt Mountain is much more accurate. This locality undoubtedly has produced the finest and most well-known examples of Lorenzenite ever found. This piece is a fine quality example of this rare sodium titanium silicate featuring a sharp, well-formed, prismatic crystal of a dark reddish-brown single crystal measuring 4.5 cm, sitting on matrix. The piece is in good shape, and displays nicely as you can see. If you collect rare minerals, this is a good piece to add to your collection, and they are not as common the market as they were years ago. From the collection of Colin Manlove.
