Here we have a classic example of the well-known "London Blue" Topaz gems. These stones start out as colorless natural Topaz, which are then irraditated to create the rich blue color. Treated Blue Topaz has been a staple on the gem market for approximately 50 years. This method of enhancing the color is well known in the gem trade and is not at all frowned upon, provided that people KNOW that they're buying a treated gem. The blue color in this material is what attracts collectors and gem enthusiasts. There are actually very few gems in the world with this color and this particular stone has a great deep blue hue. The stone has very slight inclusions with a traditional "Emerald" cut. A lovely stone of this well-known material.
