Item Description

A great classic old time specimen and a wonderfully historic piece dating to circa 1860 from the well-known Lill Mine in Pribram. The piece comes to us from noted Czech / Slovak mineral expert, Josef Vajdak, and his label accompanies the piece. The most significant aspect of the label is that Joe directly mentions that the piece is "RARE AND IRREPLACEABLE", due to the age and the fact that the locality is defunct. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371 Small silvery metallic crystals of Lollingite are associated with similar looking crystals of Arsenopyrite and grey Galena on host rock matrix. Keep in mind that Lollingite and Arsenopyrite are sometimes easily confused, but chemically Lollingite is an iron arsenide, while Arsenopyrite is an iron arsenic sulfide. Do not miss out on this one if you collect rare minerals or hard to find material!
