Item Description
Lithiophorite is a rare aluminum lithium manganese oxide. It's typically found in botyroidal examples around the world, but good display specimens are rare. This piece is a lovely miniature from Rengersdorf featuring dozens of grey-black botryoids measuring up to 4 mm on matrix. This is the first piece of Lithiophorite that we've had to offer from this locality. The piece is firmly stuck to the wooden base, and we didn't want to risk damaging the specimen by removing it. A great example of this very hard to find material from this lesser known locality in Saxony. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8883). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
