Item Description

Lithiophilite is an uncommon Li-Mn phosphate found in complex granite pegmatites with lithium and phosphate. This old and extinct pegmatite is famous for its manganese phosphates and is the Type Locality for lithiophilite. This is a rich, monolithic block of massive mottled brown lithiophilite with high luster and a bit of translucence. Not pretty to look at, but is a significant and rich example of the species and locale. Undoubtedly old material, with the label glued to it and comes with a Hugh Ford label dated from 1947-56. Classic and uncommon material for the locale.
