Item Description
Lithiophilite is a rare lithium, manganese phosphate found in complex granite pegmatites with lithium and phosphate. This amazing, old-timer is a solid, undulating, two-sided crust of sharp, glassy, colorless, lithiophilite crystals. This very rarely available material is from the much less well-known San Pedro Mine of the Pala District. I have never seen a San Diego County lithiophilite of this richnes and quality before. The minor periphery wear is certainly not a detraction to this specimen. Super rare and super desirable for the species and locality collector. Ex Dennis Mullane Collection and comes with two older labels. The faded, handwritten label has a 1948 date stamped on the back and also lists the rare phosphates sicklerite, hureaulite and salmonsite (a discredited species) as being on the specmen. The Mullane label has a $150 price. VERY expensive for the time!
