Item Description

Lithiophilite, a rare lithium, manganese phosphate found in complex granite pegmatites with lithium and phosphate, is a rare excessory species from the famous pegmatites of San Diego County. This is globular mounded cluster of subhedral, moderately lustrous, grayish-brown crystals, probably from the famous Stewart Mine, noted for hot pink and bi-colored tourmaline crystals. Not pretty to look at, but is a rare, significant and important locality piece. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection. Ex John Parnau Collection.
