Item Description

A small miniature specimen of one of the most desirable mineral species from Cornwall. The finest Liroconite specimens in the world are from Cornwall, and this species dates back nearly 200 years, as it was first described / named in 1825. This piece hosts sharp, lustrous, very well-formed, beautiful blue color monoclinic crystals of the rare hydrated hydroxy copper aluminum arsenate, Liroconite in little crystallized vugs on matrix. The largest crystal measures 3 mm, so it's not a micro specimen, as you can clearly see it with the naked yee. A very attractive specimen, and highly sought after on the market. The piece comes to us from an old East Coast collection, and comes with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address, it dates to 1946-1957.
