Item Description

A small toenail / large thumbnail specimen of one of the most desirable mineral species from Cornwall. The finest Liroconite specimens in the world are from Cornwall, and this species dates back nearly 200 years, as it was first described / named in 1825. This piece hosts a handful of sharp, fairly well-formed, beautiful blue color monoclinic crystals of the rare hydrated hydroxy copper aluminum arsenate, Liroconite associated with greenish Conrwallite (for which Wheal Gorland is also the type locality). A very attractive little specimen, and highly sought after on the market. From the collection of Paolo Matioli.
