Item Description

Linnaeite is rare Co-Co sulfide. Small, sharp, matte dark gray, crystals are richly clustered in a 3.0 cm vug lined with tiny quartz points on this showy and excellent combination old-timer from this well-known old locale, that closed in 1913. Massive linnaeite is on the side of the vug in the quartz-rich matrix. The species is named after famed Swedish taxonomist, botanist, physician, geologist and zoologist, Carl Nilsson Linnaeus (1707-1778). Ex University of Delaware Collection and comes with a very faded old Ward's label.
