Item Description

Linnaeite is a rare cobalt sulfide, first found in Sweden and named after the famous savant Carolus Linnaeus. This antique German combination specimen features a rich field of bright brassy chalcopyrite crystals. Two small adjacent vugs on an edge are richly lined with sharp, splendent, metallic-gray, linnaeite crystals to about 1 mm. This old-timer comes from a historic Pb-Zn mine opened in the 17th century and finally abandoned in 1927.
