Item Description
A beautiful small cabinet specimen featuring the rare lead copper sulfate Linarite associated with the hydrated lead copper carbonate sulfate, Caledonite. Certainly the Caledonite crystals are the most well-known mineral from this locality, but to find them associated with Linarite is fantastic. This piece features sharp, lustrous, striated, deep azurite blue micro crystals of Linarite which are associated with bright cerulean blue crystals sitting on matrix. I believe a tiny bit of whitish / silver colored Leadhillite is present on the piece as well, though the label says it's Cerussite. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
