Item Description

A rich and good quality small cabinet specimen featuring the beautiful lead copper hydroxy sulfate, Linarite in the form of vibrant blue, flattened, striated crystals sitting on matrix. There is a rather rich amount for what it is. It's quite reasonable to say that the Linarite crystals from this locality are some of the better examples of the species out there. Small areas of green Caledonite can be seen in a few spot as well. As mentioned, this is a micro specimen, and we've photographed it with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. A beautiful and showy rare mineral specimen that would make a great fit into a suite of secondary ore minerals, or specimens from California. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020 (#RR0559). Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
