Item Description

Linarite is one of the most intensely colored members of the mineral kingdom and is a highly desired species from historic mines at Caldbeck Fells. A 1.8 cm vug is lined with gemmy and lustrous, "electric-blue" linarite crystals to 4 mm in a mounded matrix of massive linarite, quartz and sulfides. This classic old-timer has an A.E.Foote label glued to the bottom, which dates to around 1884-1890. Specimens of this quality were probably mined from the 1840s to 1870s. Hefty for its size at 88 grams. Ex Ray DeMark Collection.
