Limonite pseudomorph after Pyrite (ex Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection)

Please note that the labels accompanying this specimen state it's from Bösingfeld SWITZERLAND, but the locality is actually in Northern Germany, more than 600 km north of Zurich. With that said, this might be the first and only example that we've had to offer in the auctions. This miniature sized specimen hosts a 1.6 cm crystal group of what was formerly striated cubic Pyrite crystals, but they have been pseudomorphed by reddish-bronze colored Limonite, creating a beautiful appearance on the surface. The crystal group is sitting smartly on the underlying matrix. No damage that I can find. From the collection of Dr. Barratt Phillips, and accompanied by labels from The Lesnicks (dealers from Tucson) along with Gary's Gem Garden (dealer from Cherry Hill, New Jersey) and an old hand-written label from the collection of M. Farber dating from circa 1976-1992.
