Item Description

VERY RARE 360-degree small cabinet Texas pseudomorph of lustrous rust-brown limonite replacing densely intergrown pyrite cubes. Most of the pseudos have striking stepped-growth faces, with several being distorted cubes, including the prominent large protruding crystal, at 2.3 cm on the diagonal. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, with only trivial contacting. Old-time, RARE material, as the Minerals Unlimited label copy probably dates from the 1950s to 60s. MINDAT does NOT list pyrite or limonite from Lubbock County or any of the adjacent 8 counties, that surround Lubbock County. Hale County lists limonite from two meteorite occurrences.
