Item Description
A dramatic and very rare large pseudomorph from Morocco. We believe it is from Imilchil, but the exact locale was not on the piece when it came to us in an old collection lot out of Africa. This is a huge, complex, sharp, pyrite cube that has been (replaced) pseudomorphed by limonite. The front, top and one side are strikingly sharp and preserve the original form with fidelity. The back and one side reveal that most of the pseudo is hollow! Lining the vuggy hollows are a multitude of gemmy, prismatic, yellow-green, microcrystals (identity not confirmed). These very well may be tiny fluorapatite crystals. This is a stunning large pseudomorph for any locale ; and with the tiny gem crystals as a bonus, it may be unique for Morocco. Value??? We believe in the $1000-1500 range. Such large, sharp pseudomorphs after pyrite from other locales are usually on the order of 3-4 cm, not like this giant
