Item Description
Nubby rust-brown limonite has pseudomorphed a striking intergrown cluster of hollow gypsum crystals (epimorphs) on this sculptural, rich and uncommon combination from the famous Potosi Mine at Santa Eulalia. The pseudos are aesthetically set on a lightweight vuggy bubby limonitic matrix attractively and richly covered with fine sprays of elongated hemimorphite prisms dramatically accented by a single 8 mm calcite rhomb. Undoubtedly collected in the Golden Years of Mexican minerals during the 1960s and 70s. The label is written on an old advertising contract form from the Maryland Field Musuem. Rare and unusual combination material from an East Coast collection.
