Item Description
Liddicoatite is a rare Tourmaline species named after the gemologist Richard Liddicoat, the former president of the Gemological Institute of America. Recently, there was a find of some great Liddicoatite specimens from Madagascar. There are more localities for Liddicoatite in Madagascar than any other country worldwide. Many of you are probably familiar with the great multi-color polished slabs of Liddicoatite from Madagascar that show a wonderful array of patterns and color arrangements, but typically Liddicoatite is not often seen in euhedral well terminated crystals. This specimen is an excellent crystal for any Tourmaline collector as it has excellent form, great luster and sharpness, and beautiful pink and green colorling. The crystal is gemmy when backlit, and I can't find any real damage with the naked eye. A beautiful and rare Tourmaline crystal. PLEASE NOTE: This crystal was originally sold as a Liddicoatite, so we have maintained its pedigree here, but we fully realize that this could be a crystal of Fluor-Liddicoatite, Elbaite or another species.
